How can I enable or re-enable two-factor authentication (2FA) in Granite?
If you can log in to Granite
- Go to Profile / Account settings by clicking your username in the top-right corner → select “User account.”
- From the left menu, click “Security.”
- Open your authenticator app (e.g., Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator).
- Add an account and scan the QR code displayed in Granite.
- Enter the 6-digit code generated by the authenticator app into Granite.
If you can’t log in (e.g., phone changed or code unavailable)
- Contact Granite support or your organization’s main administrator and request a 2FA reset/removal for your account.
- Once the reset is done, start logging in to Granite; a new QR code will appear on the screen.
- Open the authenticator app on your new device, scan the QR code, and enter the 6-digit code to confirm pairing.
- Complete the login and verify that 2FA is working.
Tips and troubleshooting
- In many organizations, 2FA is mandatory; in this case, only support or an administrator can perform the reset.
- If the code is not accepted:
- Ensure your phone’s time and time zone are set automatically (TOTP codes depend on accurate time).
- If the QR code doesn’t appear or activation fails:
- Try another browser or a private/incognito window.
- Disable content blockers if necessary.
- Never share QR codes or one-time authentication codes with anyone.
- If pairing fails or the account doesn’t appear in the authenticator app:
- Remove any incorrect entry and scan the QR code again.
- If needed, request another 2FA reset.
What information to include in a support request
- Your name
- Your username/email
- The Granite https:// website address you need to log in to
- A description of the issue (e.g., phone changed and you cannot access your 2FA codes)
