# I received an email from Granite. What is it?

**Granite** is a system used by your organisation for purposes such as risk management and information security management. Granite sends emails when there is an action for you to take in the system or when a login-related action is required.

**Common Granite emails:**
* Registration and password reset emails: These contain a link to activate your user account or reset your password. In some Granite environments, users log in through their organisation's own external login method (SSO/Windows authentication), while others use separate Granite credentials. Always choose the correct login method before entering your credentials.
* Reminder and summary emails: These relate to overdue tasks or forms for which you have been assigned as the responsible person. This is why you may receive weekly reminder emails.
* Service disruption and maintenance notifications: These inform designated contacts about potential service interruptions or other service-related matters.
* Support messages and automated responses: These provide confirmations or instructions related to support requests. Some of these messages are sent from "no-reply" addresses that do not accept replies.

**How to proceed:**
* Verify the authenticity of the message: Check the sender and inspect the destination of any links. Links to your Granite environment are typically in the format `https://<environment-name>.``granitegrc.com`. Avoid clicking links that point to unfamiliar destinations.
* If you were expecting a registration or password reset email: Check your spam/junk folder and any email quarantine systems, add the sender to your allow list, and request a new link if the previous one no longer works. Make sure you are using the correct login method for your organization (SSO vs. separate Granite credentials).
* If the message relates to a form you do not recognize: You may have been assigned as the responsible person for that form. Sign in to Granite and review the form, or ask your organization's Granite administrator to remove you from the form's responsible person field.
* If the message appears incorrect or the link leads somewhere unexpected: Do not click the link. Instead, report the issue through your organization's support channel and ask for the message to be verified.

| Not receiving Granite emails? Verify that your email address is entered correctly in your Granite user account settings, check your spam/junk folder, add the sender to your allow list, and confirm whether your organization requires separate Granite credentials instead of SSO authentication. If necessary, contact your organization's IT support or Granite administrator.
